Rainbow Fish Look

Just thought I’d add the visual of rainbow fish to remind you all of what he looks like :)

Sorry for the bad quality of pictures, but I was in a rush when I took them! I was visiting Luckie at her LSE dorm yesterday and wanted to play around with some of the colors that I don’t have :) I wish I had the names of the eyeshadows on me but I don’t own them, so I’ll update this post soon with the proper names.

Base: L’oreal HiP Creme Shadow in Secretive (very lightly applied with my finger)
Base color: the darkest blue (which is really more like a cerulean-ish blue, darker than the picture!) in this NYX palette.
Crease/Outer V color: Boots No. 17 magenta color (UK brand!)
Blend COlor: NYX single purple eyeshadow
Eyeliner: Milani pencil liner

I didn’t apply mascara until after these pics were taken, but I of course used my CG Lashblast!

Essentially, I applied the ‘Pacific’ color (a gooorgeous, ocean-blue, very true to its name!) all over my lid. I also attempted using the Baby Blue (lightest) as a highlighter, but it didn’t show up on my browbone (but you might have better luck with it!). I then took the pink eyeshadow to my outer V and crease and blended it into the blue. It would have looked totally fine with just the blue and pink, but I wanted more of a gradual bridge between the two, so what better color for that than purple? The NYX purple is not as pigmented as I’m used to NYX singles being, but definitely still a great purple, especially for anyone looking for a blending color in this range. I then used the Milani pencil liner to top off the look, but I think I made the line too thick and didn’t blend enough down to the lash line! Next time, I would do this look with MAC’s fluid line in blacktrack or a liquid liner, with a much thinner line.

The Boots No. 17 eyeshadows are pretty good for what you pay for as well! Fairly pigmented and have a good amount of shimmer in them - my only complaint is that without primer, they don’t last very long. So if you’re in the UK at any point, make sure to stop by Boots and pick up a few shades! :)

As for the Milani pencil liner - Luckie really likes it, but it’s not my favorite! It’s not black enough for me, nor does it have the staying power I want, esp on the waterline (my Stila kajal stays on my waterline all night!). I’m hoping to find a good drugstore pencil liner soon - I hear great things about the Max Factor MAXeye pencil, and am gonna check that out soon :)

Tropical Bird Look!

I don’t have time for a full tutorial at the moment, but here’s a quick rundown! Sorry for the wonky angles - I just got a new camera and am having a little too much fun :)

blue: Sally’s eyeshadow (layered over a Revlon blue palette)
green: Sally’s
purple: Sally’s
yellow: MAC’s Chrome Yellow!

liner: MAC fluidline in blacktrack
mascara: CG Lashblast

lips: Revlon Super Lustrous lip gloss in Pink Pursuit

first off - while I love Revlon’s Super Lustrous in Nude Lustre, the Pink Pursuit color disappointed me a little bit. it’s a little too sheer and frosty for my skin tone. however, the consistency and feel of it is still the same, so if any of you ladies want a fair skin-friendly pink gloss, go for this!

the little Sally’s eyeshadows (available at Sally’s Beauty Supply) are only $1 and are pretty pigmented for the price! also, you can hook them together to make your own palettes! the Revlon eyeshadow palettes are also pretty amazing - they go on smoothly, blend well, and last awhile.

the Chrome Yellow is my first MAC shadow… I love it! however, I just can’t bring myself to regularly drop $14 on MAC shadows, no matter how good they are.

anyway, hope you like my quick, procrastinating-packing tropical look! definitely check out those Sally’s eyeshadows if you don’t want to drop a lot of money on a crazy shade you won’t use that often :)

♥ Mika
